The global leader in board sports, quiksilver has added the mountain inspired line to the quiver-  QUIKSILVER MOUNTAIN DIVISION. This is a shift to fill the outdoor space that quiksilver has not focused on specifically until now. Of course they have had a full line of snowboard apparel, but the Mountain Division is more about the urban style, bringing the stylish side of quicksilver to practical cold weather apparel.

Quiksilver competes very well in the action sports world, and the Mountain Division is a shift to an aging consumer. They offer a group of jackets that are subdued in comparison to the surf and snow side of the core apparel lines. With classic outdoor colors and unique designs,  they have managed to keep the integrity of the Quiksilver vibe.

Quiksilver has always done an amazing job of combining style, comfort, durability and price into the creation of each item. The 2012 fall line draws from the long tradition of quality and style. Sorry ladies this is only for the bros now. There are plans to expand the line significantly in 2013.

nomad

NOMAD HOODED

This jacket has Primaloft Synergy insulation inside and water resistant poly outside. The fit is nice and roomy without sagging. I tested this late winter season in some cold temperatures on the mountain and this is warm enough for cold fall temperatures and will work well in mild snowy temperatures. This jacket does well in temps between about 20 and 50 degrees fahrenheit. The hood feels great and the design is built to be user friendly. The feel is cozy. At $150 this is a good value.

bonetoast

BONE TOAST

A step up from the Nomad, this jacket is filled with down feathers so it is warmer and also has large flap square pockets. This is the jacket that will do well in temperatures under 30 degrees fahrenheit. The design looks almost exactly the same as the Nomad, except for the pockets and the feather insulation versus the Primaloft. Bone toast is $200 and you are paying for the feathers.

BODIE FLEECE

100% pure awesomeness is built into this jacket. My favorite fleece that I have ever worn is the Bodie Fleece. The fit is perfect and the durability of this fleece is amazing. It washes well, wears very smooth and hangs on shoulders better than any fall weather fleece I have ever worn. This is a great fleece because the two tone nylon over the fleece brings a different design with classic fit. The style of this fleece is very complimentary to an athletic build with broad shoulders and a slimmer waist line. The cut of the fabric is ideal for the outdoor active lifestyle. The understated tags are placed off center and are subtle. This fleece was great for riding the slopes in the spring. For anyone that is looking to give a unique gift or add a stellar fleece to your jacket collection take a look at the full fall line and pay particular attention to the Bodie Fleece. This is my #1 pick for any jacket I have tested period. At $120 this is surely money well spent.
