SALOMON XR Crossmax- High mileage training shoe for neutral runners who want one shoe from door to trail.
GRIP/TRACTION- Critical for any trail shoe and this shoe has incredible grip without increasing the gross weight or making soles that are uncomfortable or bulky for the road. This shoe has very good traction in the snow and wet or slippery trails.
FIT-This shoe fits great. The lacing system is the best non-traditional lacing system I have ever used. The toe box is very comfortable with no rubbing. The shoe allows for foot flex in critical areas as the foot changes shape during run. The shoe has a feeling of smooth support. The great fit is a perfect combo of foothold and freedom.
RUNABILITY- This shoe performs at the very highest level of technical trail running. This surprised me as it was comfortable and durable on smooth paths and also very reliable on rocky twisted steep inclines. The heel-to-toe transition in this shoe is very stable and smooth. The material sheeted water efficiently it is a lighter fabric so fully submersing the shoe water will seep in a little bit. For a thinner sole this shoe has excellent cushioning and after 50+ miles still looks new.
WEIGHT 320G/11.3 OZ (SIZE 9 US)

APPEARANCE- I love red. These shoes look great and have an appearance of a nice technical trail running shoe. They look like they were engineered to dominate the trails.
OVERALL RATING: 5
SALOMON Speedcross 2- (women’s) Race ready, ultra-light trail shoe with aggressive tread for ultimate grip on slippery terrain.
GRIP/TRACTION- These race shoes were born to grip. Rocky terrain is where these shoes really shine, but performance on muddy trails is stellar.
FIT- The Speedcross cradles the mid foot and has a generous toe box. The lacing system creates a glove-like feel to the shoe. The longer I ran in the shoe the more it conformed to my foot.
RUNABILITY- This shoe is lightest trail shoe I’ve ever put on my feet. The tread is expertly created to grip any terrain, but what impressed me most was how easily mud fell off the tread as I ran. The last thing a runner needs is to carry large clods of mud with them up the trail and this shoe has certainly solved this issue. I would not recommend using this shoe for long training runs. I did notice that after a couple months, the footbed began to wear a bit, the price you pay for an ultra-light shoe. As much as I love this shoe, I plan on saving it for races and using my more durable trail runners for everyday training.
WEIGHT 245g (Size 9, US Women’s)
UPPER Mesh, Textile/ SOLE (Footbed) OrthoLite, shaped EVA
APPEARANCE- These shoes look wicked. The color is subdued and understated and I love the way the tread looks like it’s out for blood.
